Fiber Workshops

Two fiber-related workshops are planned to correspond with The Connective Thread, a show which features fiber work from regional artists. Both workshops will be taught my Mary Giehl, a Syracuse-area artist.

On Saturday, February 16th, 12:00-4:00, the Needle Felting Workshop will teach participants to felt images into silk without using water.  All supplies will be provided and students will keep the needle felting tool and foam. The cost is $75.

A Shibori Dying Workshop will take place on Saturday, February 23rd, 10:00-5:00.  The workshop will teach the Japanese method of dying fabric and students will wrap, twist, and fold silk to achieve one-of-a-kind designs on three scarves. The materials will be provided, but students should bring their own rubber gloves.  The cost is $60.

The next session of Pottery Class

The studio is fully equipped with pottery wheels, work tables, and electric kilns.  Students will be instructed in the making of clay forms on the pottery wheel and utilizing various hand-building techniques to make tiles, boxes, and functional items or sculpture.  No prior experience is required and self-directed projects will be facilitated with the help of the instructor, Jen Gandee.
Fridays 10:00-1:00,  Feb. 8 – March 22 (no class 3/8)  
Cost: $215 (materials and firings included)
