Sue Hershberger Yoder

Exploring the terrain between art and design, object and field, my work attempts
to create effects which viscerally impact the viewer. Color, light, surface, and
pattern conspire to construct transcendent environments and reveal the spiritual
embedded in the material. The familiar forms of the natural world act as a
framework through which to view cultural phenomena. The vibrancy, glow, and
tactility of these saturated images aim to carry the focus of aesthetic encounter
beyond their immediate meanings and symbols and toward sensuous experience
and emotional affect.
